G2 Ocean AS is the world’s largest shipping company within the open hatch segment, operating 90 open hatch vessels, as well as approximately 40 conventional bulk vessels. Joint IT department for G2 Ocean, Gearbulk and Grieg Star


In January 2019 G2 Ocean, Gearbulk and Grieg Star set up a joint IT department for the three companies, UnITy. The joint IT department is established under G2 Ocean and has a mission to create synergies and develop new services for the three companies, both at sea and shore. UnITy has a strong commercial focus and is an enabler for the business to solve future challenges.


Information Security Specialist


We are looking for you who are eager to develop your knowledge and stay up to date in the field of information security. You will be engaged in designing, building and defending scalable, secure, and robust systems. You will be working on operational data center systems and networks; helping the organization understand advanced cyber threats; and helping to create strategies to protect those systems.


We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with higher relevant education and 1-3 years’ work experience.


Personal skills

- Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken

- Excellent analytical, logical and problem-solving skills

- Experience with SCM (git), design patterns, CI/CD and code reviews

- Proactive problem solver. You leave code and processes in a better shape than when you first encountered them

- Team player, you are passionate about working with talented teammates.  


Technical skills

 You are an information security specialist with experience in several security domains and satisfy at least one of the following:


- Awareness or relevant work experience, including but not limited to NIST Cybersecurity Framework; CIS Controls; ISO standards, inter alia ISO 27001, ISO 27005 and ISO 31000; and/or GDPR

- Strong interest in information security

- Passed courses or experience in areas such as vulnerability testing/ethical hacking, security operation monitoring, security event and incident management or technical analysis

- Desired certifications: CISSP, CISM, OSCP and/or CEH

- We prefer that you have a master's degree in relevant fields of study such as computer science, programming, networking, architecture and data engineering. Experience can compensate for education.




The Information Security Specialist is responsible for engineering and for ensuring that the appropriate operational security posture is maintained for an information system as well as working closely with an information system owner, development and operations teams to ensure continuity and speed of releases. The person captures and refines information security requirements and ensures that the requirements are effectively integrated into information technology component products and information systems through purposeful security architecture, design, development, and configuration.
